Pete The Campaigner

Pete at the VJ Day Party at Chapel End School, Walthamstow, 1944

(Pete is the boy in the middle, bottom row)

Pete at Chapel End Secondary Modern School in Walthamstow...

Pete is third from left

Pete's predictions...

Pete even predicted acid rain and global warming in this KK school comic-strip in 1949, whe he was 12 years old...

Above: Pete's campaign against Domestic Violence, 1995

... and with Joe Pilgrim for Youth in 1997. This resulted in The Hydeout Community Centre at The Hyde, Stevenage

Maybe it is because Pete was brought up during hard times, - born during the depression, experiencing the London Blitz and rationing at a very early age. He was always a one to speak out against injustices...

Above: Written back in 1959, was this the real beginning of The Magic Oak Tree Family?

In the fifties, Pete even warned about alien viruses being transported from space via satellites!

He has also always advocated  colourful clothes for men.

The article above (in two parts) appeared in The Daily Mirror, after Tony Blair threatened to undo Pete and Shirley Williams work for lone parents.
