PETE INTRODUCES SCANORAMA PICTURES...

Inspired by The BBC2 documentary 'We'll Take Manhatten' , based upon David Bailey's iconic Photoshoot in New York in the Sixties, Pete decided to produce a couple of iconic and artistic photos for the 21st Century ...

SO! Using a scanner instead of a traditional camera, Pete produced these pictures...

On the left, A joke wage packet sent to Pete by Pied Piper ROY AITKEN, together with a penny and threepenny bit, dated 1937, - the year Pete was born. Pete calls this 'Life's Wages'.

On the Right, In contrast, is a feather, placed strategically on the scanner glass to produce this iconic image, which Pete simply calls 'Peace'.

LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK...

NOW CHESNEY CHALLENGES HIS MUM!

You would have thought that the last thing on the mind of poplegend CHESNEY HAWKES (pictured left with Nikki) would be ice, especially after breaking a leg during his encounter with the wet hard stuff on DANCING ON ICE, - but seeing mum CAROL'S challenge to our Deb's frosted grass on her Winter Snap Challenge (see below) was far too much for him to resist.

BTW, Check out carol in the background of the picture above!)

So Ches has sent us these photos, (below) taken in Iceland during 2009, of some fairy-like icicles...

AND WE THOUGHT ONLY MUMS WENT TO ICE LAND!

Note for fans:Chesney tells us his leg is healing nicely thank you.

CAROL TAKES UP DEB'S WINTER CHALLENGE...

Well, soon after Our Deb put her 'frosted grass' photo up for the challenge, Pete's cousin CAROL HAWKES (ex- 'Golden Shot' girl Carol Dilworth, wife of Tremelo Len 'Chip' Hawkes and mum to Chesney Hawkes) - pictured on the left with Pete, - sent us these three beautiful photos taken in her own garden near Ascot...

Well now, - can anyone beat THESE?

IF YOU THINK YOU CAN DO BETTER, SEND YOUR PHOTOS (JPG format only please) TO US AT

pete@widgeripoo.net

under the title of

DEB'S WINTER SNAP CHALLENGE.

GOOD LUCK!

ON A COLD AND FROSTY MORNING...

Our Deb herself took this stunning photograph (left) of the frost on her lawn one day in January, setting our readers off on a new challenge...

She is hoping for snow on her birthday (January 20th) - so she can make a snowman!

ANYONE ELSE GOT SOME GREAT WINTER SNAPS?

MORE BUTTERFLIES FROM FRANK -

plus a giant hand fork!

Further to Frank Swaine's visit to The Butterfly Farm with his wife Noi, - he has sent in these intriguing photos...

Can you spot the leaf insects? And whilst you're at it, is Frank's wife(pictured right)very tiny, or is the hand fork oversized?

ANSWERS BY EMAIL PLEASE...

FRANK CATCHES BUTTERFLIES!

Following hot on the heels of Kev Cooke below, our old pal FRANK SWAINE took his wife Noi to The Butterfly Farm, where he took these beautiful pictures...

On the left (above), we have a transparent butterfly, whilst on the right (above) is Frank's wife Noi with an Atlas Moth on her shoulder.

PETE'S COMMENT: An Atlas Moth is not a Moth that never wears an 'at!

BUT WHAT'S THIS? - A LEAF EATING A SLICE OF ORANGE? (see picture on the left)

I think we deserve an explanation, Frank old chum...

DEB BEATS HER OWN CHALLENGE!

Well, - it was Pete's daughter Deborah Johnston (pictures top right of this page) that began this challenge about four years ago now, - and there have been some amazing photos from our readers.

But now, she surpasses her own 'Personal Best' by sending us this photo...

At first glance, it is a picture of a butterfly (anyone identify it?) - but upon closer inpection, - as Deb pointed out to us, - there are THREE other insects in the picture. CAN YOU SPOT THEM?

(Click on the bottom R/H corner of the picture to enlarge. Make it easier for yourself!)

5 - 4 - 3 - 2 -1 - 0 -

OK - Time's up, - here are the separate insects...

Now, you entymologistsout there -

YOU tell us what they all are...
