MOTF THOUGHTS: IF YOU WANT TO BE A MEMBER OF THE MOTF, THEN YOU ALREADY ARE! Pete Perry 1968

<PREVIOUS PAGE                                                                     NEXT PAGE>

THE ORIGINS OF THE MOTF

Officially, The MOTF (Magic Oak Tree Family) began in 1968, (see below)  when Pete moved back to Stevenage after the tragic death of his first wife Dorothy, (pictured left), but maybe the seeds were sown long before that...

Well, in April 1961, whilst still living in Walthamstow,Dorothy was pregnant with their first daughter, Vivien, and before the Sixties 'Love & Peace' Culture of the hippies, Pete wrote letters to newspapers all over the World, suggesting an 'International Friendship Club'...

WAS THIS THE TRUE BEGINNING OF THE MOTF?

MOTF Enterprises was spawned in the late Sixties from The Magic Oak Tree Family, (MOTF) - a Brotherhood of hippies, bikers, Mods and Rockers, and ordinary people who believe in Social Justice, free speech, Love, Peace and Happiness with others all over The Earth, regardless of their origins or religious beliefs. Headed by Pete Perry, (Uncle Pete) they believe that we should treat all living things, and the planet Earth itself with due respect.

The MOTF (Family) is not a club, so there are no set rules, no membership fees, no uniform, just the MOTF Symbol, and the shared belief that all the peoples of The World should become one big family.

IF YOU WANT TO BE A PART OF THE MOTF, THEN YOU ALREADY ARE!

THE WALL OF SUSSITATION (above) shows all the dreams and philosophies of THE MOTF.

It was originally drawn in felt-tip pen by Pete in 1968, and coloured in, using acrylics, by various Members of The Family.

See the poem 'The Tree & The Wall' on our Poetry page

Above: Detail of 'The Wall' showing The Girl With Green Hair, who represents Mother nature. She is crying, because humans keep chopping her green hair away.

The whole mural was overpainted with luminous paint, so that when the 'Dark was turned on' as Pete put it (The light turned off) - The Girl with Green Hair's tears disappeared, and she had a smile on her face.

The ceiling of the room too, was dabbed with thousands of spots of luminous paint, and the glass globe that covered the electric light was covered with the paint, with craters painted here and there, so that in the dark, the whole ceiling  looked like the vastness of space, with the Moon and stars.

Pete even painted the Milky Way stretching across the ceiling.

Hospital.

With the help of Kev Crase and Robert Kemp, the song is being re-recorded and rearranged, with Pete, Amanda and her daughter Lorien providing the vocals...

Musicians from all over North and East herts got together to present Pete with this gold disc (right) for 'Show The Children We Care', not to celebrate how many the record sold, but simply to thank Pete for his support, through 'Switchboard Magazine' to local and National musicians, and for Charity...

Pete held a bed-in for Peace, during which time Pete, under the name of Perry Peterson, wrote to John Lennon about The MOTF. This resulted in John and Yoko sending acorns all over the World to World Leaders. This is also reported in WIKIPEDIA in these words, after a feature on John and Yoko...

In the same year the British author and botanist Peter Perry held a two week bed-in in Stevenage Hertfordshire. He left his front door open and invited anyone to drop in and say hello. He later started the 'Magic Oak Tree Family' which consisted of his various visitors, which is still alive and well globally.
